24 hours and counting

In some ways I'll be glad when this election is over and in the history books.  This campaign has been the most involved many of us have ever been.  It seems that with all the talk and hype over Obama and Hillary, that the GOP became the forgotten party.  And I think that is a pretty good assessment of the Republican party.  Conservatives have forgotten ourselves, and our values.  G.W. Bush was a great leader in a time of trial, but Conservatives in both houses must have sipped from the wrong water fountains on Capitol Hill.  Many got a whopping dose of "stupid" (could have been Michael Jackson's "Jesus juice") and spent OUR money like a drunken sailor on shore leave (my apologies to my drunken sailor friends for comparing you to a politician).  But that still doesn't mean that the Conservative movement is dead.  There are a handful of responsible minded Republican candidates out there that need our support.  These folks are "Palinesque" in their approach to government spending and waste.  Like Newt Gingrich and Glenn Beck have said - "Seek these people out and support them!"

There are many worries that many of you share with me about what will happen on Tuesday.  My biggest one is voter fraud.  I have written about this over the summer, and added other comments elsewhere.  There are so many organizations that are out there trying to register people to vote that it is very likely that 33% percent of the votes accross America will be tainted.  I watched a local news story here in El Paso about a woman who took her mother (a 80-something Latina) to register to vote in Las Cruces, New Mexico.  In September, they were at a Wal-Mart (a FREAKIN' WAL-MART!!) to do this.  But when the lady went to go and do the early voting she was not on the register.  The cops and the county election commissioner think that it was somebody stealing identities -- hmmm, ya think!?!  So some illegal probably has her information and got into the states and is probably voting somewhere else.  I love what the commissioner said - "Its unfortunate, but until the law is changed that allows outside organizations to register people to vote, there's nothing we can do."  THAT IS THE SOLUTION TO THE VOTER FRAUD PROBLEM!!  ONLY THE COUNTY ELECTION BOARD SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO REGISTER PEOPLE TO VOTE.  None of this "motor voter" crap.  None of ACORN or LULAC's shennanigans.  THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD DO ITS JOB AND NOT FARM THIS ONE OUT!!!  ITS TOO @*#$% IMPORTANT!!!

Barney Frank ... idiot, homo, criminal

If this idiot was a Republican - he'd have his nuts chopped off by the media, would be on his way to being forced to resign.  But - once again - the folks at Pravda, er The New York Times refuse to go after him.  Further, the folks at any other liberal elite mainstream media wouldn't even touch it.
First of all, Barney Frank is openly gay and has been romantically involved recently with one of the key players in the financial mess we're in.  Second, his refusal to believe that the FannieMae and FreddieMac crisis came as a direct result of his negligence and partisan views.  Third, he is now advocating even more spending despite the record budget deficit and cutting - yes CUTTING - the military's budget by 25%.  Is this guy on CRACK!?!  We must not be at war anymore, or he broke out Biden's crystal ball and saw that we won't have that so-called "international crisis that "Joe the VP Candidate" he predicted.  Either way I hope that the folks that are so poorly represented by him rise up and vote him out of office.

If you have lousy representation - don't just give them a free pass, vote the bums out!  .

Second of a couple posts today

Ok, now on to part deux.  Voter fraud is an EPIDEMIC in America.  Why have we let the one most important basic freedom we have turn into a FREAKIN' CIRCUS!?!?  I realize that many regular citizens don't give a crap about politics, or how it effects them.  I know that voting for the dog catcher in Podunk isn't on the top of many people's "to do" list, but it still is a right that is just as sacred as the Second Amendment (the Right to Bear Arms, for those who failed 5th grade Civics and those who never were taught this in school).  I have friends and fellow veterans who fought and died in Iraq and Afghanistan to give them the right to vote.  Furthermore, if we've become that apathetic then we deserve whatever comes our way.

Who do you think is the right candidate to continue to guarantee this right?  I think the answer is blatantly obvious.

Post 1 of a Couple posts today

Oh boy, I have to get in on the Biden bashing today.  I've been mum too long on his latest flub.  Can you actually believe the absolute NONSENSE this guy was spewing?  "A world crisis...to test Obama...will happen in six months."  WTF!?!  Did "Joe the VP candidate" whip out his crystal ball and come up with this?  Or maybe he's psychic?  No, I think he's more PSYCHOTIC than psychic.  I used to respect Biden because he once had a few good ideas about Iraq and the conduct of the war there.  Now I've come to the realization the man is a certifiable idiot!

Let's review, shall we?
   1. "We should do our patriotic duty and pay taxes" in order to support the Socialist - I mean - "Democratic" agendae when they get in office.  Ouch, let go of my checkbook!
   2. "The real issue comes down to just 3 letters...J..O..B..S."  You say potatoe we say potato, you spell jobs with 3 letters we spell it with 4.  Yeah, whatever Einstein!
   3. "There will be a world crisis...mark my words...in 6 months...to test Obama...and we may make a few decisions that may seem wrong...but we'll need for you to stand beside us (and keep spreading the propaganda that the "Dear Leader" is in control)".  That makes me all "warm and fuzzy" - oh wait that's that tingle up my leg.

Anyone Out There?

Wow, has it been nearly a month since I last posted?  A lot has happened in the past 3 weeks and I have been missing out on putting in "my two cents".  Is anyone even reading me anymore?  Give me a shout out if you are getting these!  I want to hear from you.

   1. What in the heck is goin' on with OUR government!?  Bailouts, earmarks for wooden arrows and race car tracks?  WTF!?!?  I have a really good video on YouTube that all of you should watch.  It explains how the monetary system we currently have came to be.  Warning: it is a bit "wonkish", but it explains things pretty simply.  Also, the Ron Paul types would go for some of the proposals at the end - but still a good primer on the economy and how it really works. The link is: Money as Debt - A 45 minute primer on the Economy .

   2. The VP debate.  Sarah did well and did attack BHO and Joe - some.  Joey "Motormouth" Biden spouted off a bunch of incorrect "facts" about the middle east, Hamas, Hezbollah, and Syria - but not a single word was mentioned in the media about it.  Johnny Mac better go into Tues. night's debate and kick Mr. Empty Suit's rear-end - or we may be looking at the "United Socialist States of America".  The U.S.S.A. is not a place I want to live in.  Bread lines, Pelosi's politburo, statues of Obama looking down his nose at the commoners - you get the idea.

   3. Sarah Palin is NOT STUPID!!!  The liberal "mainstream" media has been all over this poor lady and has grilled her more than a freakin' bratwurst.  Katie Couric is NOT a journalist!  Charlie Gibson is SEXIST and ELITIST!  Who do these punks think they are!?  They're NOT Walter Freakin' Cronkite that's for sure.  I got word that some Hollywood actress (don't remember her name - and frankly I don't give a rat's @$$) was coming to town.  It was not a big shock to find out that she was campaigning for - you guessed it - Barack Hussein Obama.  The media is a god-awful joke and should stay the hell out of politics.

   4. What the hell is wrong with the Chicago Cubs!?!  Best team in baseball during the season and they get swept!?!  Guess that priest blessing the Cubs' dugout and pouring holy water on it did a whole lot for them.  The only way they will get to the World Series is if they sell their souls to the Devil and tear down Wrigley Field to play in a domed stadium on real Astroturf  (not that new fake grass - the kind of stuff you put on your patio).

WHAT DO YOU THINK!?

The Latest Nonsense

You have to love the Libs.  Joe Biden putting his foot in his over-active mouth, and the Obama machine spreading lies and more disinformation.  They talked about what a gift McCain gave them when he said (truthfully) that the basic tenets of the economy were strong.  The machine tried to spin that so McCain looked like Bush and had no clue about the economy and how out of touch he was.  Riiiiiiiight, and they're not taking their economic plans from the Communist Manifesto.  Ooops!  Did I say that!?  Nope - that would be Joe "I've got a mouth with a mind of its own" Biden.  He spilt the beans and says that they actually want to TAKE money from us and spread it out "for the common good" - read government - because that is the "patriotic" thing to do.  HAH!  They neglected to realize that the soviet socialist economic policies FAILED!!!  They also neglected the fact that the economy GREW over the past few months.
The Libs plan to grow the government an even larger size - to control us even further, and get even more in the way of progress.  When has the government ever done anything well!?!?  Do you really want to have some dorky bureaucrat telling you how high you can turn up your thermostat, or when you can see a doctor, or how often you can drive your car?
They also plan to tax the s*it out of businesses, the folks that run these businesses, and the incentives that these folks had to stay in business.  So when all these businesses pass on the cost of these taxes in higher prices, firing the workers, and eventually closing their doors - should we be suprised that Obama and his sleazy friends will find a way to blame everyone else but themselves?
Then the libs want to put us even further behind in the world economy by closing our doors to foreign trade, not taking the steps to get us out of debt, and not taking the steps to truly get us free from the strangle-hold that OPEC has on us.  How can we regain that respect in the world if we refused to trade fairly with other countries, and welch out on our debts?  What we need is someone who will push for proven conservative economic policies, and have the courage to have the cajones to say that we're serious about drilling for our own oil.  Leadership is lacking in getting the budget squared away.  It is NOT a good thing to be "owned" by the Chinese.  It is no wonder why we didn't take a harder stance on their poor human rights record during the Olympics.  We want to keep our "sugar daddy".
Speaking of sugar daddies, what is up with the Fed (a non-constitutional entity) bailing out AIG!?!?  I thought that only the Congress could spend our tax dollars.  Don't we get a say in how our money is spent?!?!  I think that if the IRS sent an invoice for all the programs and earmarks that my share of our tax dollars went to every month - I should get to pick which ones I want to pay for and don't put my money toward the ones I don't want to pay for.  Its obvious that Congress and the Fed don't listen to my opinion anyway.  What do you think?

O'Reilly and Obama - "O" My!

If you haven't been watching O'Reilly's interview with Obama, then you've missed some good exchanges.  I only wish that there was more time to further pursue some of the topics being discussed.  O'Reilly had Obama on the hook about Iraq and the surge - then let him off so they could move on to Afghanistan.  Then again he had him on the hook about the economy - and let him off the hook.
I realize that part of it is just simple time constraints, but I have to believe that Bill O'Reilly is a smart TV commentator and knows how to play the ratings game.  I agree that O'Reilly had no choice but to jump at the chance to interview Obama and air the interview just before McCain's acceptance speech and during the following week.  Obama's people aren't stupid, they figured that they could "blunt the bump" in McCain's poll numbers after the convention.  It doesn't look like that mattered much - because McCain did get a bump.  Also, this may even backfire on Obama because it shows how far left he is and how he gets flustered under pressure.
So what does it all mean?  McCain should further capitalize on this and try to extend the lead by continuing to expose Obama's radical, liberal, and dangerous views for America.  There are polls out that show foreign countries would rather see Obama in office than McCain.  That idiot British comedian on the MTV awards show didn't help Obama much by pleading for Americans to vote for Obama "for the sake of the world".  Since when did the Socialist, Leftist Euro-scum vote for president?  And who cares what they think anyway!?  The US shouldn't have to seek approval from the rest of the world to protect our interests!  I think they seem to have forgotten their history.  They're free to spew this crap because of the blood of AMERICANS "sacrificed on the altar of Freedom".
John McCain is the right choice for America because he knows what works.  Failed Socialist policies of the left have not and will never bring the success and growth we currently enjoy.  I don't want some government agency telling me how to run my life.

"Sarah"-cuda

As many other of my conservative friends would agree - Sarah Palin ROCKS!  I am so glad that John McCain picked her as his running mate.  She is a breath of fresh air and a real threat to the leftist rock-star image that Mr. Empty-Suit had enjoyed for so long.  But.... I fear that if she doesn't get new writers and some coaching on "snappy comebacks to stupid liberal insults" then she might start sounding stale.
Now, now... I love the Governor and I know she'd be a force to be reckoned with in DC, but I've seen her speak several times over the past week and she had not changed her lines once.  I know she's new at this sort of thing but we've got to get someone on the campaign team to help her develop fresh material.

Obama has sent his stooges to go dig up whatever shred of indiscretion possible on Sarah.  I feel that McCain's camp should continue to take the high road and "play the victim" here.  The "Country First" theme is good - but let's add something to it.  Some of my readers who are also Navy vets might recognize the wonderful core values that all Navy sailors know and adhere to: HONOR, COURAGE, COMMITMENT.  These are perfect values that both John McCain and Sarah Palin should put out there in the media.
HONOR - Senator McCain has brought honor to himself and to the country with his service in the Navy and in the Senate.  Governor Palin has also demonstrated honor by refusing to take advantage of the taxpayers of Alaska and America.
COURAGE - A "no-brainer" for Senator McCain.  But he continues to show courage by taking on the established GOP Congressmen/women by scolding them for becoming wasteful.  Gov. Palin was very courageous in taking on the same wasteful politics (even in the GOP).  She's has courage being a mother of a large family with many challenges.
COMMITMENT - Sen. McCain remains commited to not taking outside campaign money from special interests.  And if Sarah Palin isn't commited to her family - then I'm the most liberal guy in America (no, wait - that's Barack Obama).

Sarah Palin needs to keep up her "barracuda" reputation (even if the band Heart won't let her use the song) as being feisty and tough on the issues (taxes, energy, wasteful earmarks) - but get her some new lines PLEASE!  I don't want her to become stale on the issues.

Unfair and Unbalanced

It is plain to see just how far the major news outlets are "in the tank" for Obama.  Of all the major news outlets, only Fox News was above the feeding frenzy on Sarah Palin.  I watched in disgust as Wolf Blitzer was interviewing Bill Bennett the night of the announcement that Bristol Palin was pregnant out of wedlock.  Blitzer would not stop pressing Secretary Bennett over this issue despite his insistence that it should be left alone.  Then you have the morons on MSNBC (More Stupid Nonsense Being Concocted) who feel that she should be dropped from the ticket, and even question McCain's decision making ability because of her "so-called baggage".  These clowns wouldn't know journalism if it smacked them in the face!!  Hannity is dead on when he says that journalism died in 2008.
Then the half-hearted call from The One to lay off the families just shows how dirty his hands are as well.  You know that he has his goons going after her and even releasing her social security number just so that she will be humiliated enough to drop out.  This is even lower than the tactics that he pulled to get all of his opposition thrown off the ballot in Illinois so he could get elected to the state senate.  Barack Obama is nothing more than a slimy Chicago Democrat weasel that will stoop to any level of indecent, immoral, and inhumane tactics in order to get an advantage in a campaign.  This is just another reason to add to the long list of reasons why this sleaze-ball should NOT be elected.
The sad thing is that none of this will ever come out.  The media is far too gone to even think about touching The One.  I really hope that when O'Reilly does to talk to him that Mr. Obama will get the proper grilling that he should over this and many other issues.  But then again, he only has an hour to do it in.

Hung Over

Sorry gang for not posting too much in the past few days.  I guess you'd say I am a bit hung over from the hoopla of the past few days.  You can expect me to add "my 2 cents" in the coming months leading up to election day.  Hope you'll enjoy and comment as well.  I'm just a simple guy with a silly sense of humor - so bear with me.

"Get me a young priest and an old priest..."

Y'all remember that line from "The Exorcist"?  Well, seems the DNC did too.  They got an "old priest" to go along with their "young priest" to try and "exorcise" our hold on the White House.  I'd say that this should be a slam dunk for the McCain team.  The Dems can't bring up age, or the tired line "more of the same" anymore since they've got one of the most senior senators running along with The One.  The Dems realized just how weak he really is and are trying to shore up his lack of experience by getting Biden.
Biden is an interesting character.  Yes, he's very smart when it comes to foreign policy.  He's one of the few on Capitol Hill that I've heard that had any kind of a plan for a post-Saddam Iraq.  Having served over there, I was hopeful that Biden might be able to have some sway with the Defense dept. in getting us out safely with a win.  He did say - before the surge - that we needed to provide a secure environment for the Iraqi government to grow and demonstrate to the people that they are capable of holding power.  As you now know, Iraq is just about ready for us to let their military and police handle the security part and have us there as a backup.  I'm not saying that I'm "going over to the dark side" because of Biden.  I just think he's another stunt by the Dems to help polish The One's image as a leader.  This whole week is going to be nauseating to watch with all the lies, and the omissions of fact about The One and Number Two.
Remember folks, these guys have some of the slimiest weasels working for them - so don't let your friends and family get suckered in.  Keep speaking out and spreading the truth about the lies about Obama and Biden.  We all know what they are - no plans to fix the energy crisis, more taxes to "redistribute the wealth", and no spines when dealing with Russia, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Venezuela, the Saudis, Hamas......

THROW THE DEMOCRATS OUT OF CONGRESS AND KEEP THEM OUT OF THE WHITE HOUSE!!!

Trip thru the Heartland

I'm back from an unplanned trip up to Chicago to get my daughter from the Navy's school for Hospital Corpsmen.  A good program, and an honorable rating in the Navy.  But I digress...
Along the way, we saw a good cross-section of America and just how beautiful our country really is.  Here are a few things we noticed:
  • The booming wind turbine industry in north central Texas.  There are hundreds of turbines for miles and miles along I-20 around Sweetwater.  T. Boone Pickens and his people should be proud.  These turbines are neat to look at and help to break-up the monotony of driving this stretch of highway.
  • Most folks are just plain everyday people trying to get by.  The men and women who work along the highways in truck stops, toll booths, restaurants, hotels, farms, etc. are the real America.  I've always thought that if you want to see real Americans - drive along our highways.
  • There is a LOT of corn being grown in the Midwest.  All we'd see for miles and miles in Illinois was huge fields of corn.  What I can't figure out is "Why are there people complaining that ethanol is taking all the grain away when there are such huge fields of corn and so few gas stations that sell ethanol?".  Is ethanol that inefficiently produced?
  • Chicago is a great town, but why are the roads always under construction?  Is it because the politicians are so involved with the road construction companies?  Even in Chicago, they realize just how crooked their politicians are - so why are they still there?

Anyway, I thought you'd like to know that America isn't dead yet.  People are getting restless, but not to the point of picking up pitchforks and heading to Capitol Hill to chase the dolts out of the building.  Talking with these folks made me realize how far removed we Americans have made ourselves from those who influence our livelihoods.  So you folks who read these blogs need to go out and educate your friends and neighbors about what can happen if they stay complacent.  Ask them to read our blogs.  Ask them to think about what is going on in their city or state.  Get them active.

Liberals say the most damn dumba$$ things

I just wish that Hannity would reach across the desk and slap the sh*t out of Colmes or one of these idiots.  Sure, that would probably get him a year behind bars, and maybe even blacklisted - sometimes these clowns need a good whack upside the head to get their attention.  I can't believe that there are people out there that believe some of the crap that falls out of the mouths of Obama, Pelosi, and Reid.

(I think I may have just come up with a new GOP slogan..."Obama, Pelosi and Reid - OH MY!"  Obama can play the Scarecrow because he doesn't have enough brains to fill that over-inflated head of his.  Pelosi could be the Tin Man because she doesn't have a heart for what the people are saying.  And Reid could be the Cowardly Lion because he took off with Pelosi to go on vacation and not face the people either - like a true coward.  Tell me what you think!?)

I was watching/listening to Hannity&Colmes this evening.  The funniest thing happened and it was too bad that the show had to go for a break - cuz it would have been funny to see another unemployed political science major (er, Democratic party 'Strategist') get her tail waxed.  I wish I could remember "Buffy's" name, but it was the segment when they had a panel on arguing over the 2 candidates' energy plans and drilling.  The one GOP analyst was going on about this and that and stated (truthfully) that the Democrats are against drilling for oil - period.  In the background (as is usually the case when an intelligent point is made) you could hear "Buffy" scream out in her shrill nasal voice, "The Democrats are for drilling!".

Oh really!?!  So, they are for drilling?  Not if "Commrade Pelosi" and her eco-nazi supporters can help it!  "Buffy" better check that against what Sen. Salazar (D-CO), Sen. Reid (D-NV), and every single one of the other Democrat liberals that walked out to go on vacation last Friday are saying.  Even if these jacka$$es did lie to their constituents back home and "support" the idea of drilling, they wouldn't do it when it came time to (cough, cough) "go back to work".

Don't let these weasels get away with stealing our government!  Call, Fax, E-Mail, Write, corner the bastards when they show up at home and tell them what you think.  They need to know what "We the People" are in favor of.  No more excuses!  No more games!  No more lies!  We deserve a government that listens to us and not some idiotic group of dimwits from Hollywood, or George Soros, or anyone else that can buy their vote.  If they don't listen, tell your friends and neighbors what rotten representation we have and vote these bastards out of office.

Small victory in war on Gas Prices

Yaaaaaay!  Finally something is starting to get done on moving Washington to do something about oil prices.  I'm glad that "W" signed the executive order to open off-shore drilling.  Now if the idiots in Congress will get off their lazy, fat, overpaid a**es then we might be able to start to become the U.S.A. we all remembered before we sold our souls to the Saudis, Venezuela, etc.  For our friends on the left who'll argue about this let's take their points apart one by one:

"Why did it take so long for Bush to do this?"  or  "It's all just politics, so why now and not last year or even longer ago?"  Ok, let's think about this.  Was the price of gas putting as big of a strain on the economy and the public a year ago as it is now?  Not really.  Sure it was starting to become a burden when we hit $3 a gallon, but the "tipping point" really was a combination of how long we've been paying this much and when gas hit $4 a gallon.  The effects of these prices are finally starting to show up now (higher food/commodities prices, etc.).  No, it's not politics...it's just Bush finally got it.  Hate to say it, but it takes a while for the voices of the people to drown out the symphony of crap that big money lobbyists, etc. are playing.  Add to this the fact that the liberal congress hates being called on their complicity in this fiasco.  They are just as much to blame as the last 5 administrations (all the way back to Carter).

"Well, what about the 68 million acres of land the oil companies have leases on?  Why can't they drill there?"  Let me ask a question.  If you had a business plan that you knew was going make you tons of money you'd do it - right?  Do you think that if the oil companies knew there were oil deposits on that land that they would just sit on it and not drill?  I don't think so.  Sure holding the lease on the land is not the best thing to do, but there hasn't been any oil found on any of that land.  There are proven oil reserves found in the waters off the coasts of FL, MS, AL, TX, GA, CA and the ANWR lands as well.  Why would China, Cuba, and others be drilling off OUR shores if there wasn't any oil there?  Just to make us mad?  I don't think so.  (Warning science content) Alaska has probably the biggest oil producing capabilities in the world.  If you believe the evolutionary thing, do you remember something about a "land bridge" between Alaska and Russia thousands of years ago?  Ancient animals and such crossed that land bridge all the time, and these animals, etc. died up there in AK and Russia.  They turned into oil.  Russian oil companies are making huge discoveries of oil in Siberia, and there have been large discoveries of oil in AK as well.  So what's to say that there aren't huge oil deposits in ANWR?

"The oil from ANWR and the off shore drilling won't do anything to lower the prices.  It will take 10 years before we see any of that oil, if there is any."  You must not know how the futures market works.  Speculators are betting - yes, betting - that there will be a decrease in the amount of oil available based on what is going on in the world.  Every time Iran shoots off a rocket, every time Israel threatens Iran, every time anything happens - the price of oil changes.  So if the market were to get word that the U.S. finally grew a pair of nuts and said, "ENOUGH!  We're drilling for our own oil!" - don't you think that the market would back off and start bidding down the price of oil?

"Well, it will be bad for the environment.  The spotted polar fluffy seal bear and Willy the killer whale will lose their natural habitats!"  Oh puh-leeeze!  Look at Norway - one of the 'greenest' nations in the world.  They are drilling off their coasts and pumping lots of oil without any impact whatsoever to their shores.  The ANWR is so small compared to the millions of acres of land that the wildlife up there can inhabit.  If you're so frickin' worried about the caribou up there then have Congress set aside another few hundred acres of tundra elsewhere and call it ANWR 2.0.  Not only that but I guess that when you won't be able to get your venti mocha choco lattes because the Starbucks have all closed down due the coffee not being shipped from the politically correct fields in Columbia or wherever in Africa due to the incredibly high prices of diesel fuel to truck it to your sorry neighborhood - you may actually start to get the picture.  You can't have your cute cuddly caribou and sip your latte too (at least at these prices).

"But we need to not use oil and start using solar or wind power."  I agree in part with that.  But the U.S. cannot be a single source user of energy to move forward to energy independence.  Oil is going to be here to stay for a long time - until a viable energy source to power transportation (ships, trucks, planes, trains, and cars) is discovered.  That is why the economic future of the U.S. is based on oil.  If nothing is moving, then the economy isn't moving.

Bottom line...we need to keep the pressure on the overpaid lazy bums in Congress until our screams of discontent are heard.  Get involved and don't let the responsibility pass on to the next person.  We cannot afford to be complacent, because there are a lot of wrong-headed folks out there who don't get it.  Obama (Dr. No) and his liberal sheep are not going to fix the problems - they will compound them.  Educate yourselves - and your community.

Beware of LULAC!!

I know that this is a touchy subject among my friends here in El Paso and folks who live in border states.  If you haven't heard of LULAC (the League of United Latin American Citizens) then you definately have been effected in one way by this group.  Let me begin by telling you I've just read a study done by the well respected Heritage Foundation titled "The Threat of Non-Citizen Voting" by Hans A. von Spakovsky.  This study details how aliens (legal and illegal) have swayed elections with their votes.  Not only is this illegal, but it in effect disenfranchises the votes of legal citizens.  No wonder my vote in El Paso never makes a difference!
Let me quote from this study to inform you further:
In 2006, Paul Bettencourt, Voter Registrar for Harris County, Texas, (Houston) testified before the U.S. Committee on House Administration that the extent of illegal voting by foreign citizens in Harris County was impossible to determine but "that it has and will continue to occur." Twenty-two percent of county residents, he explained, were born outside of the United States, and more than 500,000 were non-citizens. Bettencourt noted that he cancelled the registration of a Brazilian citizen in 1996 after she acknowledged on a jury summons that she was not a U.S. citizen. Despite that cancellation, however, "She then reapplied in 1997, again claiming to be a U.S. citizen, and was again given a voter card, which was again cancelled. Records show she was able to vote at least four times in general and primary elections."

In 2005, Bettencourt's office turned up at least 35 cases in which foreign nationals applied for or received voter cards, and he pointed out that Harris County regularly had "elections decided by one, two, or just a handful of votes." In fact, an alien voter was discovered to have voted in a state legislative race in Harris County that was decided by only 33 votes. Nor is this problem unique to Harris County. Recent reports indicate that hundreds of illegal aliens registered to vote in Bexar County, Texas, (San Antonio) and that at least 41 of them have voted, some several times, in a dozen local, state, and federal elections.

This problem is also a national security issue.  von Spakovsky continues:
In 1994, Mario Aburto Martinez, a Mexican national and the assassin of Mexican presidential candidate Luis Donaldo Colosio, was found to have registered twice to vote in California.  A random sample of just 10 percent of the 3,000 Hispanics registered to vote in California's 39th Assembly District by an independent group "revealed phony addresses and large numbers of registrants who admitted they were not U.S. citizens."  Eight of the 19 September 11 hijackers were registered to vote in either Virginia or Florida—registrations that were probably obtained when they applied for driver's licenses.  (Empahasis added)

Now, why is LULAC a problem?  They started out as a good organization and continue today to do good work among the poor latios in the community.  I frequently see their vans picking up elderly folks and take them to doctor's appointments and such.  But the problem is that their voter registration drives (a good idea in principle) frequently target aliens (legal and illegal) to vote.  I can almost guarantee that if the voter registration records of El Paso were audited - a good 25% of those listed would in some way be disqualified due to false addresses, false identification, and flat out lies about their citizenship by those who registered them.  I wouldn't doubt the same is true in towns all across TX, NM, AZ, and CA.  The Heritage Foundation study also described instances of alien voters in Chicago (hmmm, cough-OBAMA-cough, gag).

I highly recommend reading through this article and fowarding it to your local newspaper/media outlets.  It may generate some investigations.  It can be found at http://www.heritage.org/Research/LegalIssues/lm28.cfm .

The end of the study couldn't have been written better:
Requiring that our laws—all of our laws— be complied with requires no more of an alien than it does of a citizen. Election officials have an obligation not only to enforce those laws, but also to implement registration and election procedures that do not allow those laws to be bypassed or ignored. Anything less encourages contempt for the law and our election process. Lax enforcement of election laws permits individuals who have not entered the American social compact or made a commitment to the U.S. Constitution, U.S. laws, and the U.S. cultural and political heritage to participate in elections and potentially change the outcome of closely contested races that affect how all Americans are governed.
